Translation - Short Projects
Teaching material
In 2006, I had the opportunity to
translate material from Polydron and Crusader Education to
Dutch. The original
Polydron is
a geometric construction system consisting of triangles and
other polygons that can be clicked together. There are many
ways these can be used in classrooms. I was asked to
translate the corresponding teaching
material. Crusader
Education made hand-crafted wooden models of both
simple and more complex machines, such as the lever,
balance, and
pendulum. Jantine
Bloemhof assisted me on both projects.
Papers
The editors of the
Nieuw Archief voor
Wiskunde sometimes receive papers that they prefer
to publish in a different language than the one they are written in.
During my time as an
editorial assistant, I translated a number of papers,
sometimes with the help of an editor.
- Wiskunde en turbulentie, by Raoul Robert, Fr→Ned, with
Jaap Molenaar (June 2006)
- Galois Theory and Arithmetic, by Laurent
Lafforgue, Fr→En (September 2006)
- Foolproof, by Brian Hayes, En→Ned, with Derk Pik
(June 2007)
